A couple of weeks ago, I finally changed to ADSL. While I don't regret my decision, I do wish broadband providers would give a freephone 56K dialup number as backup. Last week, I remember Sandra was unable to get on because the Pipex servers were down, and in the two weeks I have been on Wanadoo broadband, I have experienced two down times.
While I appreciate that modern technology is never guaranteed to be problem free, I think that as we are paying for what ISPs deliberately advertise as an "always on" connection, they could provide us with an alternative for when it goes t*ts up.
