It should be mentioned that if you upgrade Firefox, most of your extensions and themes will stop working unless they are found to be compitable with the new version.  This is the only reason I dropped Firefox and reverted to Opera, as the latter has all the functions without the need for extensions.

Just something to sleep on before upgrading to the newer version.

In the Tools > Options > Advanced section, there is a facility to check for updates, which also checks for updates to plugins, extensions, etc.  I have just used that facility myself, to upgrade to 1.0.2, and it worked with no hassle at all.  There is an icon which appears in the top right corner of the screen, when updates are available.

I've seen that option, Simon, and very useful it is too.  The problem I have is that if I was reliant on a certain plug-in (the "Notes" plug-in being extremely useful) and it hadn't yet been updated to work with the new version of Firefox, then I would be well and truly stuffed until the author had caught up with the browser.

Come to think of it, I don't see why Mozilla don't officially adopt some of the better extensions and incorporate them directly into the browser?

I think the updates are backwards compatible, Dave.  I also have the Quick Note plugin, among others, and they all still work, following the upgrade to 1.0.2.  

I would also like to see a lot of these built in, but I suppose they like to think half the fun for the end user is customising the browsers to the way they like them.  What I would like is an automatic update feature, similar to Windows Update, that at least informs the user of available updates, with the option whether to install or not.

Its best to delete the older version

Yes, that's my experience too, davy.  In fact, I always uninstall all old versions of everything before updating/upgrading these days.  I find it much smoother.

Yes, that's my experience too, davy.  In fact, I always uninstall all old versions of everything before updating/upgrading these days.  I find it much smoother.

If you install it without deleting the older model the older one stays in the forlder and seems to cause problems.
Ive seen a lot of complaints about problems.
And im not getting any of them

I wouldn't usually disagree with the above re uninstalling old versions, however, as these 1.0.x releases are merely patches and updates, I don't think there's a need to uninstall previous versions first, in this case.  When they put out a full new version, i.e. 1.1, then I would uninstall first, but not for these little updates.  I have installed 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 over the top of installed versions and had no problems, and it also saves reinstalling all your plugins again (depending where you inistalled them in the first place).

I just updated it as you suggested Simon and so far don't seem to have a problem.
