According to the manual on the creative site the specs for that card say it needs 98SE and later OSs.
So thats why you, and me havent been able to find any drivers for 98 for it Bob :(

I know this might sound silly, but if you are on the original 98 and you go to Windows Updates (not somewhere I frequent if I can help it) doesn't Windows Updates give you all the packs and files that turn your installation into a virtual 98SE?

It's just that I remember updating Windows98 on one occasion and it seemed to offer about 200MB of updates.

The problem was solved a day ago. It was a machine a friend and i were working on at the shop. We moved a board and its sound card, previously tested and working, to another tower. Afterwards windows would only play basic systems sounds and not play cds. We uninstalled the driver, and when we couldn't find the replacement we called it a night. He said the next day he took out the sound card and plugged it back in and windows found the new hardware and reinstalled the driver. So im thinking it was on the win98 cd, and the driver problem was caused from a loose card. I didn't ask were he got the driver after he told me it was working again, it just didn't seem important.

Thanks for keep an eye on my problem though.
