I'm looking for a mains cable for a TFT monitor - so far without success.  It has a small, round 4 pin plug at the monitor end.  Anyone know what they might be called for starters?

Have you tried an electric shaver lead, Clive?

I would imagine that spare electric shaver leads are as rare as hen's teeth too Dave!  The lead in question (belonging to a relative) has become lost in a house move but neither PCWorld nor Maplins are of any use.

I don't think so Simon.  If you take a look at the connection on your own TFT you will see what I mean.  It's more like a DIN plug than a simple power connector and it will have a transformer fitted to it.

I don't have a TFT, Clive, so that won't help.  :|

There is http://www.tft-power.co.uk/ but not what you might call a user friendly website.  Might pay to ring them.  There is also CPC, who do all manner of cables, switches and electronics, but their catalogue is so vast, it's quite a challenge to find anything, but again, you could always ring them on 08701 20 25 30.

4 Pin?? are you 100% sure Clive, normally the leads are of the IEC variety for tft screens which are bit like Kettle leads.

I actually test these leads week in week out Clive    on TFT monitors

All the Best for New year and be safe

There are two leads - so maybe the lost one goes to the computer!  Back to the drawing board!!  I'll have to pop back down to take another look!  Thanks Terry and Simon!

It's definitely a 4 pin 12v socket Terry.  The make is Liyama.  My current Samsung has a similar lead.  I think that the website Simon found could  be useful to me.

Clive.

What you need to look for is a 12v PSU ( like a laptop PSU) with the type of socket you require on Ebay, sorry to have lead you up the garden path.
