On that basis, Hendrix certainly deserves a place near the top - and I can't imagine too many guitarists disagreeing. However, the compilers of this list have made the usual mistake of confusing Fashion with Music. As a result, a number of these artists seem to be included simply because they once appeared on someone's favourite record. I mean... Bo Diddley???
Whilst it's nice to have one's musical taste 'vindicated' by seeing our fave musos published in a list, it would be far more meaningful if professional guitarists were judged by their peers, rather than bedroom air-guitarists. Perhaps then we might see the inclusion of a few more gifted players and a lot less three-chord wonders.
...and while I'm off on one, where's John Scofield and Larry Carlton? :shock:
