Epson Stylus C86
« on: March 31, 2006, 22:47 »
Been running this printer for ages, and now PC wont recognise it. When I try and print anything, I get a message telling me Print Spooler System not running.

I re-installed drivers from Epson site, and checked for any old drivers in PC and found none. Ive switched Print Spooler system back on from control panel
and still get nothing. It seems as though after Ive switched Print Spooler System back on it appears to switch off again.

Ive switched Printer off and on, and checked for viruses and trojans-nothing!!

Ive done everything but tap dance on the bloody thing-Any ideas? :x  :x  :x

Yes set on automatic Sandra. I think its a file missing-something like a dll or something. It just wont pick up printer. It happened I think after I took out Prevx, which I was testing.

My System Restore never works either!!!

... or try reinstalling Prevx.  At least then you'll know what the problem is.

Try running sfc /scannow from Start/Run with your XP cd in the drive if you suspect a missing or corrupt file.

Who is the manufacturer?

Does your system have SP2, or do you have an SP2 CD?

The Manufacturer is Evesham, and yes my system has SP2, but I put it in, it came with SP1. I have an SP2 Disc yes.

SFC is XPs own System File Checker.
It verifies that all the system files are correct by comparing them to the ones on the cd as a reference.
Any missing or damged are replaced from the cd.

OK thanks Sandra will try later.

Does it matter that my recovery Disc has SP1, and I have since added SP2 from a different disc?

Yes it does! The system should reject it as it has a prior service pack. If you start SFC it should start from the hidden I386 folder on the drive and should also ask for the SP2 CD.
