its possible but the first thing I would suggest is viruses / malware.. just seems like a possible behaviour. Are you upto date? / run all scans?

Does 2K have the automatically restart after system failure like XP does ?

If so untick it from inside System Properties/Advanced/Start up and Recovery

emmm i will try and use the latest version of stinger to see if there are any viruses..otherwise i have done what you have told me(unchecking the reboot option in system properties!. win2k seems to have this option which frankly was the first time i have ever seen it!) so i guess from now on i will observe the system to see if it will restart again!!! though am abit buffled....other systems have that option checked but rarely do they restart?

I would check for overheating problems and run a test on your memory.
