Ok this is probably a really silly question, but being as computer illiterate as me I not sure how this works.

I have IE6. I went into Add/Remove programs and it's not there. Michael explained that is because was already included.
I wanted to access IE repair through Add/Remove Programs, but obviously I can't.

So I thought I might install IE7, if I do what happens to IE6.
In other words if I decide I don't like IE7 and delete it, will IE6 still be there or will I have to download it and install it again.

oh and IE7 I believe will overwrite IE6

Yes, that's what Michael has been asking me to do since I first got this computer, he has Firefox.

But I don't see the point of having both, as he does.

Ok, if IE7 does over write the other, and I then delete IE7, will it return to IE6, as it does with Windows Media Centre. :?

I agree with Sam (on both counts

) .

Personally, I'd choose Opera over Firefox but that's just my preference. Both are far superior to MS IE.

im not sure what would happen if you removed ie like that. I personally dont see it like a choice. MS makes you have IE, but it is s**te, so you install firefox and never again use IE but you cant remove it. Firefox is so so more secure in so many ways over IE. My rule of thumb is.... NEVER use IE if you dont want to be open to lots of crap getting on to your machine.

Michael says that since he installed Firefox he never uses IE anymore.

It's better not to remove IE as sometimes Firefox cannot open certain pages but there is a plugin to open the page in IE.

I find when I am buying stuff on Ebuyer, Firefox will not allow me to go to the checkout page and I have to open it in IE.

thats an odd issue with ebuyer you have there lona... is it just ebuyer you have the issue with?

Thanks Lona it does make a lot of sense.

I think I'd be to frightened to delete IE, as I know how it works and I'm quite comfortable with it.

Plus it will take me quite some time to get Firefox how I want it.
Well actually it will probably take me a long time to figure it out first.

firefox is simple, trust me, its just like ie but looks slightly different. once you get over that you will be fine! :-)

I have a Hotfix Toolbar attached to my IE and I'm rather fond of it as it allows me to enter all my emails addresses, very handy. I'm trying to find a way of either moving it to Firefox or should I just download it again. :?

if you enjoy lot's of spyware and popups use IE. i recently changed to firefox
it's a lot better

Hotfix Toolbar - what does this do exactly? is it a way of just entering info into text boxes or does it do something a bit more complicated? thre is bound to be a plugin for firefox that does what you want though.
