Settled down after several reboot attemps including getting a message to insert system disk ,any clues to what could be wrong ??...Jim

My immediate guess is that the hard drive is on the way out - suggest you start backing up any valuable data while you still can. :|

Hard drives can fail well inside their warranty period Jim.
I like Western Digital drives as I have found them to be the most reliable.
I had a WD 250 gig 16mb SATA 2 drive fail earlier this year that came with a 3 year warranty yet it failed within 3 months :shock:

Sorry it's bad news, Jim. At least, if it's less than a year old, you should be able to get a replacement under warranty.

I like Western Digital drives as I have found them to be the most reliable and
maxtor the worst, but dont waste a dead harddrive pull it apart and get the
magnet out, their a real strong magnet

Thanks for the replies guys& girls , it's a WD 80GB with only 23% used shouldn't take too long to transfer all the data !!
