Holiday info added to Google Earth
« on: September 01, 2006, 20:22 »
British Airways has teamed up with Google Earth so that holidaymakers can use satellite technology to check out their chosen destination before they even set foot in the airport.

The customized version of Google Earth lets people zoom in on their chosen destination and view the local attractions.

The satellite service on ba.com has extra layers of information so that people can see popular tourist hotspots or places of special interest and the proximity to their chosen hotel.

BA said it hopes the service will help travellers familiarise themselves with the places they are due to visit, enabling them to develop itineraries and make arrangements before they even arrive.

Obi Felton, head of consumer marketing at Google, said: ?We hope holiday-makers have fun with this specially created tool. People have always enjoyed finding their own home on Google Earth and now they can see where they'll be laying down their beach towel or enjoying après ski before they fly.?

BA's site also gives tips on how to get the most out of Google Earth.
