evenin'

I'm contemplating getting medion to change the mobo to attempt to cure an intermittent system freeze problem.  My question is what are the possible pitfalls here.  I've read that even if the mobo is identical there can still be problems. The mobo is an msi 7091 oem version.  Does windows need to be reinstalled as part of this process ? I'm reluctant to go ahead if it does  :?

It shouldnt be a problem Dave.

The main problem with changing parts where XP is concerned seems to be to do with the IDE controller drivers.
If the OS hasnt got those installed then it cant initialise them so it cant read the hard drive.

Not sure if SATA controller drivers are different in that regard but I assume the same thing will probably apply.
So if they change the mobo for the same one you should be ok.
