The silly thing is that if they enabled the exchange more people would probably see the advantage of ADSL at their friends or relatives houses and may decide to get it themselves whereas if they havent seen how much an improvement it is over 56K they may never even think of pre registring

BT Hits Target - One Million ADSL Lines

BT has officially managed to pass its second major ADSL target (first was 500,000) by announcing the use of over one million UK broadband connections. The operator has responded to this by cutting the trigger level of every local exchange awaiting ADSL by 50!:

we now have 194 registrations out of 300, so we are getting there. Trouble is we have cable covering our exchange area hence it is taking some achieving, and before you ask, nope no cable near my abode  >
