Disable UAC
« on: June 10, 2007, 15:43 »
For those running Vista and that annoying pop that pops up every time you do something, try This Tweak I'm using it and it's brilliant.

Been using Vista Ultimate for about 6 weeks now and just about mastered it.

Thanks Terry.  I'm seriously considering a new Vista machine for Mrs Clive because she managed to acquire a load of viruses last night while surfing a Russian website.  They've corrupted her Internet connection and removed or changed other files making her computer almost unusable.  AVG didn't stop them before they did the damage.   :bawl:

That doesn't say much for AVG.  Perhaps you get what you pay for?

Yes indeed!  I always thought that an antivirus program is supposed to prevent viruses causing damage.  It's not much good saying "Oh by the way your computer is now screwed up but I can tell you what caused it to happen".  I doubt that I would risk it again on a new machine.

Its easy to disable UAC either from doing Start/Run, type in MSCONFIG then go to the tools tab and select the disable UAC option in there and apply or just do it from the security centre.

Hell, she's a woman and can multitask.  It's quite normal for her to have her mac alongside her desktop keyboard and use both at the same time.   ::)
