Rather newby question
« on: September 09, 2007, 19:13 »
Hi all, my question is, a lot of my files on my PC are now accumulated in blue text which is rather annoying lol, i have an idea why but i'm not really sure lol.

Is there a solution to get rid of this?

There's a checkbox in Tools > Folder Options > View Tab "show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color".  The colour they use is blue so see if that is the problem.  8-)

wow  you learn something every day. I did not know that either. Question is why are they  encrypted or compressed? do they need to be? how do you tell which are encrypted and which compressed?

Do we really need to know?

Precisely because Windows has a mind of it's own!  ;D

It was quite a handy method of identifying zipped files in the days of dial-up.  But as Simon says, Windows ticks or unticks boxes all by itself just to cause you grief.   ;D
