Worried of London
« on: September 11, 2007, 21:57 »
Well........... remember I had a problem with my old monitor where it was saying (no system output) and enventually wouldn't start up and we decided it was probably the vga lead. And I got the new monitor and had to update the drivers to get it to work..

Now heres the worrying bit, twice today, this new monitor has switched off for no apparent reason.......just bringing up the message (no system output) eek!

So does that mean all along it was either my vga connector or the video card? Please nooooooooooo!  :bawl:

It hasn't done it again since it did it twice in a row..... but I don't have a good feeling about this!

Coincidence? Loose lead that I have secured again now?  I hope so.

Well, you could try securing the lead onto the video card by tightening the screw things, and see if that helps.

It might be worth taking the card out of the machine, blowing off any dust and then re-seating it, Michelle. Even when cards appear to be firmly seated, they can be flexing just enough to lose contact. If the lead tightening doesn't do the job, that would be the next thing to try.

I did take of the lead and put it back again, really tight. And it hasn't done it again.........yet. So maybe that was just it.

If not I'll try the dust blowing thing.

Thanks for the ideas  :)

I'm full of ideas. Just occasionally one of them is a good idea.  :)

A good tight screw often works wonders, Michelle.   ;)
