To be fair, it was a teriffic show! The Wildcats were not the originals although one had been with him for 25 years. They were all first rate musicians and played up a storm. Marty is celebrating 50 years in the business and is now 68. We were sat in the 3rd row and I can tell you that he doesn't look anywhere near that age. He can still sing well and hold a note for what seemed an eternity. He's still very agile and remembered all the moves that made Lona scream back in 1960.
The only thing that gave it all away was his wig which was really quite obvious. But I suppose he would have looked even sillier being bald so he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. He sang my favourite Marty Wilde song which was
Bad Boy and he sung most of his other hits - what a lot he had! He also sung a lot of other late 50's early 60's songs showing that he is an all round entertainer. He's a very professional artiste indeed and I would have no hesitation in recommending his show if he comes to a town near you. Sadly, the theatre was only two thirds full but there were a surprising number of younger people in the audience who would not have been around during the years that Marty was in his prime.
Yes, I remember Gerry Dorsey Lona. I often dance the Last Waltz
