Topic: Spellchecker Outlook express is in French

Soooooo.  The spellchecker on my Outlook Express is in French and therefore doesn't recognise any English words at all until I add them.      I thought it would be a simple fix via the options menu but there is no alternative language available.

Have you checked your regional settings in Control Panel?

Good point Rik.  But they are set to English!

Where did this computer come from, Clive?  Does it small of garlic and onions? 

But seriously, it seems that this is due to Office 2007 removing the English dictionaries from OE6.  How helpful is that!  The recommended solution is to download a third party spell checker for OE.

You've got to love Microsoft. Maintaining backward compatibility with the 8086 chip, but not with their own software.

That is incredible!  Yes, I have Office 2007 installed so it all makes sense now.  What a bunch of half wits they are!  Thanks very much Simon.  This forum has been worth its weight in gold since I changed computers!

Unfortunately I can't find a compatible spell checker.  Those that are available are for old versions of OE and promptly crash OE6.  This is a real retrograde step isn't it?

If you have Office 2007 installed, why not use Outlook, or give Thunderbird a try?
