New Vista Build
« on: January 13, 2008, 14:39 »
As above a I have built a second PC with vista on using a Sata hard drive and MSI KN96GM mobo for a back up.

Everything running ok except a little niggle on start up? after hitting the start up, black screen comes up found drives (6 secs) then turns to another black screen and asks press F3 to enter configeration utility (6 secs) after that runs down goes into normal start with the bar running across saying windows vista (greyed out for 10 secs) then the normal green bar runs across 3 times and runs normally.

Like I said it's just a niggle and the PC runs great. is it because the Hard drive is running of a sata lead.

Shouldnt matter whether its IDE or SATA thats its booting from.
Once you have set the boot priority in the BIOS then it should boot as normal.
The option for F3, F8 on mine or F2 on most other SATA mobos I have seen, is for when you have multiple drives so you can select which drive to boot from without entering the BIOS.
This should only occur though when you have pressed the relevant F key.

I would double check the BIOS and make sure that you have it set to boot from your SATA drive Terry, other than that I cant think why its doing that
 :dunno:

OK I have checked the Bios and cannot see anything untoward why that should happen, like I said it's no great deal as it starts fairly quickly and as long as I don't look at the screen I will have to live with it  :)
