Very interesting, Clive.  I'll have to dig out the DVDs again now.   :D

I am Legend is a superb story and is available as a free audio book here.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

I just bought the book, Gill, but haven't had time to start it yet.  Mind you, it looks short enough to finish in a few hours.

I haven't seen "I am Legend", as I am not a fan of horror flicks, but I am very interested in how all forms of media are used to convey a message. I would certainly enjoy the original version of the book, I really dislike this attitude of "good v evil", demonizing your enemy.

Pocahontas, the Disney version, had a very good message about this, when "The settlers arrive as John is about to be killed. Pocahontas throws herself over John, telling her father that if he kills John, he will have to kill her as well. Powhatan is persuaded, and John is freed. Ratcliffe orders the settlers to fire anyway", at this point, the chief says "who are the real savages".

now that would have been a much better ending from "I am a Legend". I haven't read the book but from the acting of the monsters all the way through the film it seemed as if this was going to be the conclusion. It was quite a shock to me at the end when it wasn't.
