Seagate 2 TeraByte hard disks next year and SSD's

I can't wait, because when the 2tb drives come out maybe the 1tb drives will come down to a reasonable price.

The CEO of Seagate has announced that the company will introduce Solid State Drives (SSD) next year and will also introduce 2 TeraByte (TB) hard disks next year.

The company's will target enterprises with their SSD solutions first and has no plans to release SSD drives to consumers for now. This is mainly due to the high prices of the equipment which the Seagate CEO expects to continue to be high for the next few years. As long as the prices are not close to 10 cents per GB Seagate will likely not focus on consumer solutions.

The CEO does think that SSD's will replace normal hard disks in the future, however they first need to become price competitive.

Unfortunately the article does not mention any more information about the 2 TB hard disks the company plans to release. It would be interesting to know if this is with current technology or if Seagate has developed new technology.

I'd expect they would. I'm still not convinced about these huge solid state drives, I guess I need to see that they can work reliably.
