Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0
« on: July 17, 2008, 23:56 »
When I launch the above, it seems to take an age to load and start up - something like 35 seconds last time, on my new PC, which isn't a slouch.  Does anyone else use Elements, do you find it slow to start, and have you any tricks to make start up faster?

I use photoshop CS3 and that takes ages loading all its extras so I expect its a similar thing Simon. If I just want to view a jpg or some other picture file and not mess around with it then I just tell it to open in something else to save time  :)

Irfanview is really good for just quickly looking at an image, and has some good tools to mess around with it. If I was using windows and needed to crop something quickly or resize something then I'd use that over photoshop any day.

My Paint Shop Pro v9 also takes ages to load.  So does the Gimp since I 'upgraded' to Vista.

That's the thing isn't it?  I don't mind waiting for it if I'm going to do some sort of project or something, but just to, say, save a screenshot, it's a real pain.

It takes 5 seconds or less, but I'm still using version one
