Humans, not climate change, were responsible for the extinction of giant "kangaroos" and other massive marsupials in Tasmania more than 40,000 years ago, according to new research.

Those antipodeans have always liked their barbies.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

It bloody isn't round here!  We were walking along the seafront yesterday, and it could have been the middle of November!

"There was a marsupial leopard, which was probably 100 to 220 pounds [50 to 100 kilograms] in weight," he said.

There has been many sightings of large cats.......

A State Government inquiry has found it is "more likely than not" a colony of "big cats" is roaming Sydney's outskirts and beyond.
The revelations are the result of a fresh four-month investigation into the "black panther phenomenon" which for years has plagued residents across Sydney's west, north-west, Richmond, the Blue Mountains and Lithgow.

Quote
A SECRET government file confirms big cats are breeding in eastern Victoria.
Department of Primary Industries documents reveal at least 34 sightings of puma or panther-like cats, along with dozens of mystery stock kills in Gippsland, in the past three years.
And department officer Terry Higgins has seen the cats, but is banned from talking about them to the Sunday Herald Sun.

Perhaps they aren't extinct after all.......... ':|

We have occasional sightings of large cats, probably puma around here and the local TV company sends out reporters to try and catch it on camera.
