The package manager is a good idea, if only it was more up to date (in Ubuntu), and it would still be nice to be able to download and install programs Windows style.

I would actually rather be ignorant of most of the inner workings of the operating system. I think most people would rather be ignorant of it. Apple picked a good motto: "It just works." That's what most people are looking for. In 30 years, nobody will give a rat's ass about the command prompt. It's a hold over from the 80s. I know it's an unpopular thing to say, but hey I think its the truth.

if you write code then I can't never see a point when the command prompt will be useful, but I know what you mean 99% of people just want it to work.

yeah the default isn't the best - but thats just down to testing. You can install more up-to-date repositories if you wish...

The version of SeaMonkey they have is 1.1.9, but the latest version is 1.1.11.  To install 1.1.11 manually requires some coding dexterity, from what I can gather.

Oh, don't worry Sam, thanks for the links, but I hardly ever use it, so can manage quite well with Firefox.  Unfortunately, the reason I bought it was to use at work, but there isn't a strong enough wi-fi signal, so it's not really much use to me at the moment.
