Tom Cruise 'death' rumours denied
« on: October 19, 2008, 08:53 »
Tom Cruise is alive and well despite reports circulating on the internet that the star of Mission Impossible and Top Gun died in an accident in New Zealand.

The diminutive actor's agent denied the web rumours. "This is completely not true. Tom is not in New Zealand nor has he been there recently," Jeff Raymond said.

"This is erroneous and unreliable internet garbage," Raymond continued.

The claims that Cruise had died started on Thursday and spread on the web.

According to the reports, the actor plunged to his death from the Kauri Cliffs in the North Island of New Zealand.

Other reports claim that this is the location of Cruise's next movie.

This is not the first time the cliffs have claimed a fictional death. Two years ago Tom Hanks was rumoured to have died after falling from the same cliffs.

Scientologist Cruise was pictured in New York this week attending the premier of All My Sons starring his wife Katie Holmes.

Earlier this year Bloomberg inadvertently published an obituary of Apple boss and founder Steve Jobs.

Very disappointing indeed.  :(
