Thats why you buy them in pairs, and use the second as a backup. It took them 18 months to double a terabyte. It could take them even longer to double it again. I think they're trying to cut down on energy used at these data storage centers. The bigger and greener the hard drives the less energy and money these companies end up spending over all.

trust me, I can fill a terrabyte in a few minutes... but that's using the worlds largest radio telescopes.

And yep, set them up as raid arrays.

We have a massive storage capacity here - we have one machine that is dedicated to run 100TB of space!
