Gateway, the PC manufacturer that was well known on the UK high street in the 90s

Was it?  I thought it was a supermarket that became Somerfield.  :dunno:

So that's what became of Gateway!  They are now owned by the Coop but remain a crap supermarket.

Hmmm "....is repurposing the brand to target medium to large businesses. However, in the US, Gateway will continue to sell to consumers." so they don't have a consistent story about their brand and target market
Reverse the polarity, it'll be fine !

It's just a name, effectively, to be used as local markets see fit.

I always thought Gateway was a brand which tried to emulate Dell by selling direct to the customer.  Prospective purchasers would telephone a call centre which would send them a brochure.  Only when it became clear that Gateway couldn't compete with Dell did they attempt to break into the high street, stocking the likes of Tiny.

I'm surprised this brand is being resurrected, what with its history of failure.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.
