I shall be baking bread.  The last lot I made was a disaster because it was too sweet for the leavening to work, but we'll passover that.  It's my own fault - I didn't have any sugar so I had to getsomehoney and used too much. Hopefully, this will be more savioury and will be properly risen.

I've always wanted to try making bread, but it would have to be in a breadmaker, and apparently, they're a real faff to maintain.

Rubbish!  I use mine all the time and the only part that needs cleaning goes quite happily in the dishwasher.

OY!!!

Those were my finest (and most contrived) puns ever!  I even got 'Gethsemane' into it.  Credit where it's due, please  ::) .

For what it's worth, I believe there's nothing like a Kenwood Chef for mixing dough, but if I'm short of time I'll happily make bread in my Panasonic SD255.  Even bread made in a machine is far superior to anything bought from the shops.

Moving even further OT, I've tried the Richard Bertinet method and although I can make the sourdough starter, my dough is so slack that it's unkneadable.

Oh, and do make an effort to see the film - it's a giggle.

Sorry Gill, I'm afraid the puns passed over me, but I hope you're not too crossed.  I guess they were really hot crossed puns.  :thumb:

Mine is a Panasonic SD206 which must be about 10 years old.  I only use it once or twice a week and for several years I didn't bother with it at all because I was too busy.  So it's probably had 7 years use.

Mine has been used about twice a week since I bought it over a year ago - it's so handy, not like machines I hear of which get relegated to the back of store cupboards.

Making bread with the SD255 is so quick.  It only takes ten minutes to assemble the ingredients and four hours later you've got a fresh, light, tasty loaf costing much less than you'd pay in the supermarkets and using ingredients sourced from local suppliers, thus helping the local economy and saving 'food miles'.

In fact, I'm just about to pop out to our monthly farmers' market to stock up on flour and other sundries :) .
