British are worst for PC security
« on: September 02, 2009, 13:57 »
A survey has found that the British are the worst nation in Europe when it comes to keeping their PCs secure.

Brits take too many liberties with the security of their PCs, according to a report.

Research from security firm PC Tools has found that Britain is the worst offender in Europe when it comes to keeping their anti-virus software up to date.

One-third of Brits don't ensure their security software is regularly updated, compared to just five per cent of Germans and seven per cent of the French.

Additionally, 47 per cent of British men use the same password to access all websites, compared to 26 per cent of British women.

However, the company also warned that some people may be taking security a step too far by installing multiple software programs for protection.

"Users may be bloating the system by installing too many security solutions," Michael Greene, vice president of Product Strategy at PC Tools, said.

But the most important thing for all surfers was to keep up to date with all the emerging threats on the web.

"Even with the best security protection, the methods used by cybercriminals continue to evolve every day, so users should always be on guard," said Greene.
