I actually tested the Sansa models and found them poor quality compared to an iPod.

How so, Rik?  I've got a Sansa and I'm very satisfied with it.

I thought the audio quality was poor, using the same tracks and Bose headphones on both, Gill.

Perhaps I'm happy with my Sansa because I've never listened to an iPod.  Ignorance is bliss, and I'm happy!

Sansas are a lot cheaper than iPods.  Is the difference in sound quality really worth the extra money?

I've got a Sony Walkman, and the sound quality is just as good as any I have heard, as long as the source is of high quality in the first place.  :)

My friend has a JBL docking station, and the sound from that is phenomenal, from such small speakers.

To me, yes, but then I am using £300 headphones. ;)

If you can afford £300 headphones, I'm surprised you don't hire the bands to perform live for you rather than listening to mere recordings  ;) .

It has been known. :) I guess I shouldn't mention the £6000 speakers and the £1000 CD player then. ;)

I left out the power amps, pre-amps and the tuner. ;D

Of course, you have to remember I didn't buy most of it.

With a set-up like that, I should imagine you're not listening to Dizzee Rascal or Kylie Minogue.

No, I like pipe bands, jazz, opera, choral music and the classics generally - modern and ancient. :)
