Christmas TV: 600 hours of repeats!
« on: December 02, 2009, 23:15 »
THE Christmas TV schedule has revealed a whopping 600 hours of repeats will be shown this year.

Brits looking forward to new, exciting entertainment over the Christmas period will instead find the nation's four major TV channels have rifled through their archives for old repeats during the festive break.  BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1, Channel 4 and Five will collectively show a staggering 580 hours of repeats this season, with Blackadder - which first hit our screens 20 years ago - back on the TV guide.

Talk about the kettle calling the pot!  Don't newspapers keep showering their readers with article re-treads, especially about celebrities?  Oh, and we're all going to die next month from a mutant disease, and eating this food causes cancer, and doctors have found a cure for cancer, and the climate is over-heating (except for when it's freezing), and there's too many immigrants, and why are our politicians not supporting our brave soldiers, and we need more bobbies on the beat, and here's a free DVD of the Three Tenors...

I've just seen an episode of "The Thick Of It".  It made me yearn for "Yes, Minister".  Sadly, so many repeats (such as Blackadder) are far superior to the television that's being made today.  Most modern programmes aren't fit to be screened when there's going to be a viewing audience.

this can't be anything new.... surely between 12 - 6am every night its mostly repeats at the least... so over 20 days that already 120hours for just one channel.

As I am 2 weeks behind with watching recorded TV I dont mind that we will be getting the usual Xmas repeats as I will be able to catch up and possibly even watch a few films instead of having to wipe the films I record to clear up space on my PVRs hard drive  :)
