Throughout the history of GUI's or Graphical User Interfaces, there have been several studies on how people interact with them. All in the name of trying to make them easier and more efficient to use. The latest effort by microsoft is their much lauded ribbon which I personally think is a piece of confusing excrement."At the very least microsoft is trying and even they have not managed to get it right. Linux is however, far more confusing when it comes to the GUI. In any one Linux distribution, the programs which people prefer to use can come from several different window manager/desktop environments. This causes several very different user interface styles to be displayed at the same time.
