I've not heard all that many good things about AVG, but admittedly, reports have mainly been about the free version.

No, the 'Pro' version is just as crap, but ideal if you enjoy False Positives.

Got my disc. As suspected- a load of crap. Its the old 8 version, and only 5 months left on licence.

You get what you pay for.

Only five-months worth of almost unimaginably fabulous joy?  Oh well, there's always the free A/V stuff here.

I found Avast to be a cracking bit of software.   8-)

If they are claiming it's a full year's licence, that's an offence under the Sale of Goods act, no matter how much they're selling it for, isn't it?

That and fraud, not to mention the Trade Descriptions Act. Worth a call to Trading Standards, imo.

It does state that:

Quote
Product upgrades immediately online to version 9.0 to give you the most up to date internet security available and continues to update free throughout the duration of the license.

It's the duration of the license which seems to be in question.

I've never heard of a product with a five month license, though.

I agree that you could probably cause trouble over the time of licence left, etc, but for the price, I dont think its worth the time and trouble involved, let alone the cost of phone calls. The company seem to be in Gurnsey, at least thats where it was posted from.

Put down to a life experience.
