Daphnis makes a big impression
« on: July 07, 2010, 02:40 »
A Cassini image of the moon Daphnis making waves in Saturn's rings.  Daphnis is only 8 kilometers wide, but it really makes an impression on the A ring, making waves all around the edge.

Quite an influence for such a small body.  No less than 60 moons have been discovered in orbit around Saturn, some are just 1 km wide.  Imagine what our sky would look like if Earth had more moons.

quite cool, but probably not too different if they were just 1km wide, depending on the distance away - they'd probably just look like a bright spot.
