Steve Pitt has been appointed first-team manager and Steve Ball will be rejoining as first-team head coach. Pitt is a well-respected manager in the non-League scene and has enjoyed a fine season to date at Bishop`s Stortford in his role as an assistant to Rod Stringer in the Skrill South and also played a big part with a scouting role at the club.

The experience he has picked up at a higher level will for surely pay dividends as he takes over the number one seat at Leiston Football Club.

He has a wide network of players and contacts which will certainly benefit Leiston as a club as they look to lift themselves out of the relegation area.

Steve Ball needs no introduction in these parts and Leiston are delighted that he has rejoined the club he help make successful in winning the Eastern Counties League Premier Division and then the Ryman League Division One North.

Ball is not only a top quality coach but he has a certain interaction with the players and knows how to get the best out of them.

Ball admits that the success he enjoyed when involved at Leiston first time around stood him in good stead when applying for his current position at Colchester United.

He now feels it`s time to pay back some of that trust and rejoin a club he has a huge affection for. Leaving the club will be Neil Reader, who was assistant to former manager Danny Laws and will not be involved in the new set-up.

Reader spent a great deal of time and hardwork whilst involved with the club particularly after Law's departure.

Another departee is Liam Gurney, who was part of the first-team staff and, like Reader, did a great deal of work for the club.

Because yesterday's scheduled home tie vs Rushall Olympic was postponed due to Rushall being reinstated in the FA Cup due to their last opponents fielding an ineligible player, we might now be looking at eight weeks, YES 8 WEEKS, without a Saturday home match.

Last Saturday home game - 21st September, Chorley V Kings Lynn

Next scheduled Saturday home game - 16th November, Chorley V Frickley Athletic

EIGHT weeks later!!

A victory at Whitby Town in the FA Trophy could result in a 2nd round home match on 2nd November, but that is not guaranteed.  :ack:

Another AWAY draw - this time at either Soham Town or Grantham, whoever wins their replay.  Even more worrying is that if we win that match, the next round is on Saturday 16th November and we could get drawn away again, the result of that being that our eight weeks without a home game on Saturday could extend to NINE bloody weeks!  :ack:

You've just gotta laugh.

Chorley were away (again!) tonight at Trafford.  Rivals, moneybags Fylde, were away at bottom club, Droylesden, who usually lose 5-0.  At kick off time, I was thinking to myself that if we can win 1-0 and Droylesden only lose 5-0 to Łylde, it will have been a decent night.

Scores:

Trafford 0 - 5 Chorley.

But:

Droylesden 0 - 10 Łylde.

Droylesden have now shipped sixty goals and have scored just nine, and we're only a third of the way through the season!  :o

For all my ranting about us potentially not having a home game on SATURDAY for nine weeks, we actually haven't had ANY matches at home for six weeks.  That long wait will end tomorrow night with a league match vs Matlock Town.

Incidentally, we have also drawn tomorrow night's opponents in the final qualifying round of the FA Trophy at home on the 16th November - which will be eight weeks to the day since our last Saturday home game.

'bout bloody time.  ;D
