Fake security software catches out Apple owners
« on: May 19, 2011, 22:48 »
A fake security program for Apple computers called MACDefender has racked up a significant number of victims.

Hundreds of people who installed the software have turned to Apple's forums for help to remove it.

The program's tactic of peppering screens with pornographic pictures has made many keen to get rid of it.

MACDefender seems to have been successful because of the work its creators did to make it appear high up in search results.

That's disgraceful, stopping law abiding people surfing for porn by their actions.  :)x

She bought a Dell and gave the Mac to a dedicated afficionado.  He reformatted it and it's now back to tip top condition.

I think all Apple Mac users should restore their equipment to tip-top condition in exactly the same way.  What a wise decision of Mrs C to go with Dell.  It's such an easy laptop to work on.  I've had mine 3-4 weeks and it's already showing signs of becoming a monster.   :)
