Okay, this is really wierd.
When I turned off the computer today before going out it had 3 updates to do. I didn't pay any attention as to what they were.
When I returned home and tried to turn it on, it had some weird install updates/registery, but 524 of them.
It happened really quickly, then I couldn't open FF in my admin account, so I tried to open control panel and it won't let saying the server process could not be started because it has been incorrectly configured and to check the name and password.
I finally got FF opened, obviously, but it looks like really old and the dark blue has gone and it's all grey.

I can't open any of my files....

What the hell happened???

When I first typed system restore into the search it came up with various options.
Then I lost it as I did some googling, so I typed it again and it came up with an error message, now it says "C:\Windows\system32\rstrui.exe The service cannot accept control messages at this time.

My whole system looks like the old Packard Bell I had.

I can't log into other user accounts, and the more I try to access in the admin account the less it lets me do. HELP!

What is safe mode, sorry it's be awhile.

Tried to restore to an earlier time but came up with the same message about that it can't blah blah, check the user name and password.

How do I check/change my admin name and password, and has it been conpromised?

I can't access anything.

This all happened when I turned my computer on and 524 registery changes happened, how do I find out what they were and what exactly they were when I can't access anything.

I can't even access my network to check wireless and remote access.

Thanks TR, I just to use Hijack this and it can't do a complete scan as it's being blocked.

It may be a while to get back online.

Hey, everything is back to normal.

I realised that just unplgging the ethernet cable wasn't enough because of teh wifi, I turned off the modem and did a scan and analized, nothing wrong.

Turn the modem back on, and now everything is back to normal.

If someone can make sense of that, I'll be really pleased to hear it.

I know that you should change the password on your modem to stop people hacking it, but is that really important?

Good to hear all is well Kate.  Changing the password on your modem is important if you live within spitting distance of another user who might be able to pick up your signal.  It should be quite straightforward to do.
