Using a computer for the first time.

A Firefox User has an interesting encounter with someone who has never used a computer before and we all learn something.

Its a common practice with software designers
They assume the user knows how to operate a computer

I myself never touched one until I was 50 and my kids had to show me

I can recall not having a computer.  That was when I used to do things!
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

Great article!  Like discovering a lost Amazonian tribe, it is becoming increasingly unusual to find someone who's never used a computer before.  Although sadly there are some for whom the learning curve will always remain a flat line.

It wasn't until 1984 that got my first (work) computer.  As I recall, the [Winchester] drives were the size of dustbin lids and had rather less storage capacity than one of Cyril Smith's trouser pockets.  I then had to wait around for someone to invent the web, before I could tell anyone else that I had one.  Once I'd got some interwebs, it was then just a simple matter of waiting another few years for some damn fool to invent PC-Pals.  The rest, as they say, is hysteria.

The first go at a computer for me was when my Boss went out I thought I would have a go. Got stuck on some blasted Porn Site that wouldnt go away!! Had to get his Daughter to clear it for me. She found it most amusing, although she didnt say anything; at least I dont think so!!! :not:
