Great article! Like discovering a lost Amazonian tribe, it is becoming increasingly unusual to find someone who's never used a computer before. Although sadly there are some for whom the learning curve will always remain a flat line.
It wasn't until 1984 that got my first (work) computer. As I recall, the [Winchester] drives were the size of dustbin lids and had rather less storage capacity than one of Cyril Smith's trouser pockets. I then had to wait around for someone to invent the web, before I could tell anyone else that I had one. Once I'd got some interwebs, it was then just a simple matter of waiting another few years for some damn fool to invent PC-Pals. The rest, as they say, is hysteria.
