I've done a really bad thing... I've accidentally deleted a partition on a backup external hard drive.  These are someone else's photos, music, etc.  Is there any way I can recover these files?

It's OK, Acronis Disc Director came to the rescue.

Lol!  I haven't looked!   I've got the data back, but haven't reinstalled Windows yet.  That'll be this evening, or over the weekend.

Poxy Dell!!  I have a brand new Windows XP CD, with SP3 included, and it won't let me install it because the (original) product key won't work.  I'm guessing it's a Dell coded key.
