DOCX problem
« on: September 13, 2011, 20:21 »
Hello Pals,

A colleague on occasions sends me word 2007 documents. Since I have 2003 I downloaded the 2007 viewer and compatibility pack. The tables/graphs are still all over the place. Could this be because I'm not the author?

Cheers

John

Not sure if it's the same problem, but I find this an occasionally useful tool:

hmm, that could just be microsofts formatting.

You can always install http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/open-a-word-2007-document-in-an-earlier-version-of-word-HA010044473.aspx - which should offer support in 2003 for docx.

Failing that there is always openoffice. www.openoffice.org

Thanks for the info.

Nothing works.

He seems to have made this table in 3 or 4 parts, but they all appear on top of eachother.
I've tried to seperate them, but it's impossible. I think the problem could be with the way he's saving the document.

Hi Sam

I wouldn't like to ask him for it in PDF. He's not computer savvy.
My wife got an IT bloke to look at it. He managed to open it, but said that it looked a bit strange.
He also sent me the link for the microsoft compatibility pack that I already have.

If you like you could pm me your e-mail addy and I'll send the doc. to you.

yeah - I'd happily give it a go. If it doesn't look strange I'll make you a pdf.

Update.

Sam kindly looked at the file for me, but it was beyond redemption.
I suppose I'll have to talk to this fella again.

Thanks Sam :thumb:

I've been desperately trying to resist the temptation to say something about it possibly being easier to see the problem if you straightened your spectacles.  At least I waited until the serious business on the thread had been concluded  :D.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is readily adopted.

Nope! Nothing to do with me.
I've worked with this individual for the past four years.
I do absolutely anything do avoid any communication with him.
I think he's one sandwich short of a picnic.

Can you think of a similar idiom?
