Topic: The Commodore 64 is 30

Commodore took the wraps off the Commodore 64, one of two immediate follow-ups to its popular Vic-20 home computer, 30 years ago this week.

I remember seeing them in schools, but never really used one.

I remember taking those stupid computer magazines which contained pages and pages of BASIC code which, if entered correctly, would produce the most wondrous games.  The following month they would print all the corrections but the graphics were not much better than Pong.  As a humble Spectrum owner I always had a bit of green-eye for the vastly superior Vic 20 games, although I never actually saw any for myself.

My computer lessons at school comprised of leaning BASIC and how to use punch cards.  I made a calendar, and got told off for the amount of pages it took to print!

Much better than the computer lessons of the the 21st century - where at best they learn to use access databases hut realistically just word.

My first computer was a Commodore 64 followed by a Commodore 128 and then a Amiga 1200. Wonderfull days and I still think that the Amiga was a wonderfull machine.

I was green with envy Den.  My Spectrum was little more than a toy.
