Careful what you say about Windows 8 Davy.  Den is the one person on the planet who actually likes it.   ;D

I tried to get 8.1 to work for me but I couldn't get any of the settings I wanted up front without going deep into windows which was a pain
So I deleted it and went back to xp pro
Finally I installed 7 on my laptop and it seemed ok so ran it in a dual boot with linux

From what Im reading about windows 10 the updates are only free from 2 to 4 years depending on which version is installed

thats not good windows 7 gets updates till 2017
I thinking that means updates for windows 7 will last longer than windows 10

And, presumably, Windows 8 upgrades will go on for longer than Windows 7.  I knew there'd be a catch.

This all comes from an a article that is only some ones take on it and not based on fact. Microsoft are saying that the updates are free for the life of the product and as some people have to have the latest machine every two years then they will be paying for the latest version.

I believe that it will be released in batches so it may not reach my machines for a few days. I will report back when it arrives.
