Legendary radio presenter Dave Cash dies at 74
« on: October 21, 2016, 16:13 »
BBC Radio Kent presenter Dave Cash has died at the age of 74.

We’re told Dave collapsed this morning and passed away at lunch time.

Dave has worked in the UK radio industry for as long as it has existed, and has been with Radio Luxembourg, Radio London, BBC Radio 1, Capital Radio, Country 1035 and Primetime Radio. He was also launch Programme Controller at Radio West.

He’s well known for his pairing with Kenny Everett, hosting the Kenny & Cash Show on the radio for many years, originally in 1965, plus his Cash on Delivery programme.

BBC Radio Kent announced the news at 3pm today and aired at special two-hour documentary about his life and career, produced by the station in 2014 to mark his 50th year in broadcasting.

His last radio show for BBC local radio in the South was just this week – on October 15th – where he paid tribute to Bob Dylan and remembered his days hosting with Kenny.

He was quite familiar to me, as he's been broadcasting on BBC Local Radio here in the South for a number of years.  He did a 'chart rundown' show on a Saturday evening, which was always entertaining, picking charts from the 60s, 70s, and 80s of the given week.  He was on last Saturday, and showed no signs of being unwell.

Oh my God, is that just around the corner.

On the other hand a customer and friend of mine looks as if he wont last the month out and he is 97 and his wife who is helping to look after him is 96.

It's a shame about Dave Cash but at least he was able to continue doing what he loved right up to the end.
Fourth in the 2018 Quiz of the Year but at least I beat Clive.
