Thanks Simon, but it just doesn't work on my phone.   :dunno:  Don't worry, I'm not that bothered about it.  I have lots of new apps including Adult Sheep Finder so I have plenty to keep myself amused.

I've had my first spam call!!!  Unbelievable!  How can I block these idiots?

Done it.  But I have to type in the number to block it.   ::)

You should be able to block from the call history by tapping and holding the number for a couple of seconds, then various options should appear.

But, I'm beginning to wonder if you have a very unusual version of Android, as it doesn't seem to work like other Android phones.

Or, could it be the user...?   :o:

Yes I suspect it could be an older version that doesn't work like you expect, on the other hand it could be the phone  :)x

;D  Well, it's stopped downloading those infernal updates so that's very pleasing.  It claims to be Android 7 if that is meaningful.  But.....tonight I've managed to send a text!  It's so much better than my £25 Tesco phone because it guesses what I want to write.  :o  This is impressive.  Also - wait for this ....I've done a video call with my youngest grandson.   ;D  The other one is old enough to realise his granddad is a total idiot and not worth bothering with.   Thanks for the blocking tip - I shall try that next time.

Again not sure if joking (regarding the text)  :P most phones have been doing predictive text for ages now...it's the first thing I switch off as it's more hindrance than help. What did you use for the video call ? was it "hangouts".

I confuse myself half the time  :P I did have a Nokia android phone a few years ago that didn't seem to do anything particularly well. It's what sent me over to Apple for a few frustrating years. I guess all Android OS's aren't equal.

Not joking about the predictive texts.   ;D  Never had them before but now my texts just write themselves and I'm delighted.  I think I used WhatsApp or Skype or a combination of the two.  But it worked really well.  I could have had a conference video call but I only have the one contact on both apps.   :)x

OK, so I've clarified which app I used last night and it was WhatsApp.  I've now deleted Skype.   8-)

Is that whatsapp for video call ? I didn't realise it did that although I've never tried as it didn't occur to me

I don't use WhatsApp, because when I did install it once, it immediately stole all my contacts and wanted to share them with all and sundry.

I think it checks all the numbers in your contacts that already have Whatsapp then gives you the option to connect to them.
