I couldn't care less. I only wish I could forget him altogether. As far as I'm concerned he made a bloody awful racket but I seem to be in a minority.
I have to admit I was never a fan of Hendrix myself, but he did craft the way for the next generation of guitar players. Clapton I can take or leave as well.
Whilst we are in agreement, Gill, may I suggest that you listen to the track Good Company by Queen? It's not their 'usual' type of thing and was in fact more of a Brian May solo composition. Within this track, he managed the extraordinary feat of creating a Dixieland jazz band of trombone, trumpet, and clarinet - all with the guitar. It is a piece of compositional genius that remains unparalleled to this day:
