Loosing audio on suspend/sleep
« on: November 01, 2003, 00:03 »
When my computer powers down to suspend mode, or when I manually put it on suspend, I loose audio upon waking it up. I guess the drivers don't come back. The only thing I notice is that all my volume controls for various things have disappeared and I just have Wave, SW Synth and CD Audio left. No Master volume seems to be there, and the Mike and other things are missing. Everything else, from the printer to my cordless keyboard, come back fine. I'm running Windows XP Profesisonal Tablet edition. I don't see anyone complaining about this problem in the tablet forums. Any ideas? Thanks

Sandra, my apologies for not having responded sooner. But I did find the answer to my loss of audio after finally being smart enough to talk to Motion Computing support (the makers of my Tablet PC). It is not my system, but what is plugged into it, and I have everything including scanner, printer, extra monitor, camera, cdrw, and speakers. The culprit turns out to be my cordless keyboard/mouse combo. With it unplugged the audio comes back fine. I shall just unplug it from the USB port before I go into standby, or replace with corded versions. I still wish I knew what the actual cause is, and I will contact Logitech (the cordless keyboard/mouse manufacturer) and see if they have any thoughts. Latest drivers changed nothing. Thanks again. By the way, the soundcard in the Tablet is called Sigmatel.

Thanks for letting us know that you sorted it  :)
I think you answered the probable cause in your original post  ;)
Its not loading the USB drivers "on waking" so if you unplug and then plug back in it does, I think  :)
