blue screen
« on: November 25, 2003, 06:17 »
earlier i got 3 blue screens. the first and second were when i was running the interface maker for soldat, and the third was when i was in the middle of playing halo. now i'v never used the interface maker untill earlier but i'v been playing halo since october the 10th and have never had a problem with it. the blue is the same colour as the background of the BSOD. the only thing i can do if i do get this is to press the restart button :(

Hi Measter,
In the absence of anyone with brains i'll tell you what my first steps would be  ;D

First check that you dont have a build up of dust in your computor and that it is not overheating.
Check that it is not a memory problem, you can check your memory by visiting here and using their tester  http://simmtester.com./
It may be that your graphics card drivers have gone a touch wrong    so see if there is any updates for it.

That should keep you busy until someone who knows what they are talking about comes along  ;)
My goal in life is to become half as good a person as my dog already thinks I am

Don't put yourself down Greenking - there are enough blondes around here to do that for you ;)

Measter, my first thought was to check the PC's memory. GK's utility should do fine for that.

If you can post the first couple of lines of the BSOD message for us, it may help to identify the exact cause.

theres no text, just the blue background. i'v got the latest drivers for my graphics card and like i said in my first post it's been perfectly fine upuntil earlier.

my specs:
AMD Athlon 2100+ XP
Windows XP Home Edition SP1
nVidia GeForce MX 440 SE 128 DDR with the 52.16 drivers
i'm not sure what my motherboard is because it got put in by a cpu repair shop after my other one was fried( >:()

Not being an expert, I would probably un-install the interface maker, if that was the last thing you installed before you started getting the blue screens.
