The stoopid thing is Sandra? I have loaded it on 2 computers at work and 2 at home with no troubles what so ever..until I tried on this new computer.

This is the Log off the PC: The log file C:\Palm\Terryr\HotSync.Log cannot be found.

So it must have shook hands at some stage?

It's not your router firewall is it, Hook?

Wouldnt have thought so Simon, as its a local connection through Com 1 directly to my PDA..but you never Know  ::)

I think that Simons possibly pointed you in the right direction, but as he often does at work hes taken a wrong turn  ;)

You have SP2 on dont you Hookie ?
Maybe if you disable that and see if it allows it to synch and if it does then its just a case of configuring XPs built in firewall.
The firewall can block LANs via ethernet and USB so presumably it can do that on the COM ports too  :)

That was one of the things I had done this afternoon was to allow Hot sync manager to allow connection just in case  :D

What model of PDA is it?

Reason I ask is there seems to be a problem with SP2 and the Hotsync software for some users over on the Pdastreet forums - affecting Sony Clie, Z1 etc.

http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/search.php?action=showresults&searchid=659926&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending

Seems to have occured mostly since SP2
hey promised the earth! Then delivered mud.
Technically it did meet the spec.
