American History X
« on: March 05, 2007, 12:20 »
This is one of the true movies in American Cinema that everyone should be required to see. It brings out a lot of truths in the Nazi movement in America and shows the horrors that it can bring.Edward Norton gives the performance of his career as a reformed Neo-Nazi determined to stop his brother, Edward Furlong, from the life he once held. this is finest movie about racism i have ever seen.

Great movie, with a couple of very nasty scenes.  Highly recommended.

Sam suggested that I see it ages ago, but I still haven't gotten around to "obtaining" it yet.

oh no its a great film!! well worth a watch. I have to agree about Edward Norton's performance.. fantastic - he must have found it a quite hard / disturbing part to play aswell.

After reading this thread I sought out the video.

Aren't those blokes well-built?  And would someone remind me of the plot again, please  ?

Seriously, it's a thought provoking yet entertaining story that's well acted and makes for compulsive viewing.  It's well worth watching, but don't get distracted by a game of "spot the Star Trek actor".

Tonight I watched a film in a similar vein to American History X called, This Is England.  Very well made but also very disturbing.  Get a few egotistic, violent lads together who think they're intelligent and see them become the antithesis of their own values.

Well worth watching.

It's been a very good night on BBC4 with Horizons about mass extinctions.

A recorded Heroes for me tonight, but I have to admit, I'm getting a bit bored with it, and find the Japanese guy extremely irritating.

Great movie. It's a good motivator for staying out of prison.
