It's all very sad.  There are not many freebies in life but Skype was one of them and it was possible to set up phone conferences with it too.

skype is thinking of this all wrong. I use this all the time, though it doesnt look like they will start charging if its over an internet that isn't through a mobile provider. I wonder what these means for 3, we use that all the time and its a big selling point for them. In short, indeed the networks are running scared and instead of charging reasonable dataplans and keeping their customers they will just stop innovation. Though I don't think free skype for non-mobile users will go away, I hope anyway. There will be an alternative pop up too - I'm sure.
